New CarPlay head unit, front brake pads/rotors, and oil change on this Toyota Sienna! CarPlay is life. Massive upgrade over the annoying factory Bluetooth that doesn’t let you change anything unless you’re stopped and in park. Oh and yeah, smooth, healthy brakes are a nice feature also. 😂

Timing belt/water pump install on this long-travel 3rd gen 4runner last week! Wired an ARB compressor, and all bumper lights into the customer’s S-POD as well. Love seeing these projects come together, and leave ready to run for years to come.

It’s always an honor to work with quality people as a part of quality projects, installing quality parts, and offering a quality final product that actually performs for the people who will be using these vehicles every day. We never do work we wouldn’t do on our own vehicles, and it is so satisfying seeing peoples’ faces light up when they experience for the first time what we’ve experienced ourselves over the years. Best part of the job for sure.

No - partially frozen water bags are not a suspension enhancement. — This gentleman originally bought this truck with an air lift system already installed on it. He began having issues with the air compressor running for long periods of time before shutting off, and noticed the ride height of his truck didn’t seem right.
After a quick consult/diag I was able to offer a solution that met his current goals and budget, as well as offered some advice for improving the ride and overall reliability/safety of his truck. We ended up:
- Replacing both rear air bags in the system (obviously leaking, and also trapping moisture in the bags while driving in wet weather)
- Removed the spacer lift from the front suspension (these cheap spacer lift kits reduce your ride quality, increase probability of damaging other suspension components, and commonly remove your ability to get the alignment back within factory specifications)
- Corrected an improper installation of the air lift kit’s wiring so that the system will operate properly
- And utilized bluetooth connectivity in the air lift system that the gentleman didn’t know existed - which saved him $100 by not needing to purchase a separate in-cab pressure controller (that the previous owners/dealer had lost or thrown out) to adjust and monitor the air bag system.
By doing so we effectively reduced the probability of suspension component failure, increased front suspension component longevity, increased ride quality, improved the overall look of the truck, restored the air lift’s functionality, brought the alignment back within factory specifications, and cleaned things up along the way.
This gentleman sent me a text after driving it for the weekend. He was excited to have his truck back in working order, and riding better than the day he bought it. It just feels right when things are right, and I’m stoked that he got to experience what I had promised in our original consult.

Not much sense in going fast if you can’t slow back down!
Fresh set of front and rear brake rotors and pads followed by a full brake system flush with fresh fluid for this customer. Nothing smoother than some crisp new brakes.
FYI - Fresh fluid in the system improves brake feel/performance, increases caliper longevity, and reduces probability of corrosion in other important parts of your brake system.
When was the last time you had your brake system checked or fluid flushed?
Hi! My name is Carter. I’ve had a passion for just about everything with a motor (and a few things without) for as long as I can remember. I’ve been pulling motors and swapping transmissions since 2009. As a young boy my mind was consumed by the curiosity of how things work. The ability to turn a key, push a pedal, and do 80 MPH down the highway was magic to me, and I had to figure out how it was possible.
The curiosity has fueled my life-long dream of having a shop space of my own - working on all sorts of incredible vehicles. I love seeing broken things come to life again, and seeing people light up when the work I’ve done has made a difference in their life. I doubt I can be convinced that there’s a much better feeling than that first drive after spending 12+ hours fixing a complex issue on a vehicle and everything is as it should be once again.
And thus - Nocturnal Speed Works was born! I’m honored by the opportunity to work in this space.
If your vehicle/dirtbike/sxs/whatever you own that makes speed (or should make speed) could use some TLC, accessories installed, etc. then shoot us a DM! We can get you a competitive quote and a job done right.
Don’t hesitate with any questions or suggestions. Chevy (my pup) and I would love to see you at the shop!
